James Ackerman
President & CEO
James Ackerman was named President and Chief Executive Officer for Documentary Channel in July 2009 after serving as the network's Chairman since April 2008.
In his role, Ackerman is responsible for overall strategy, distribution, and financing for the network. A seasoned executive with experience worldwide in leading advanced media companies, Ackerman brings more than 20 years of experience to Documentary Channel. Ackerman lives in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife and two children.
Kate Pearson
Senior Vice President, Programming, Scheduling, & Acquisitions
Kate Pearson oversees all aspects of programming for Documentary Channel as Senior Vice President of Programming, Scheduling, and Acquisitions. Evaluation, negotiation, licensing, scheduling, co-productions, and original development all belong to her area of responsibility for the network.
Pearson, originally from Coral Gables, Florida, holds a BA from Emory University and a Master's degree in Spanish from Middlebury College.
Rob Edney
Vice President of Advertising Sales
Rob Edney oversees all aspects of advertising sales. In his role, Edney is responsible for securing and obtaining advertising opportunities for the network. Edney joined Documentary Channel in January 2011. Prior to his current role, Edney began his career at CBS and has worked in the fields of broadcasting, cable, and digital media for over 20 years. One of the most notable positions includes a 10 year stint at A&E as VP of Sales and VP of Business Development and New Media.
Barry Rubinow
Senior Vice President of Creative Services
Barry Rubinow is Senior Vice President of Creative Services and oversees all on air promotion and original programming for the channel. Rubinow produces DOC's flagship original show, DocTalk, which airs weekly. He is in charge of Documentary Channel's LA office, works closely with the marketing and programming departments in creating the on air promos, and is responsible for the technical and artistic quality of DOC's broadcast signal.
Tim Meise
Vice President of Finance
Tim Meise was named VP of Finance for the Documentary Channel in July 2010. Tim is an active CPA with over 23 years of experience and achievement in the accounting profession. His background includes being a pivotal part of successful management teams developing start-up Media Companies to high profitability. He has also played a key role in raising venture capital. Meise lives in Columbia, Tennessee with his wife and three children.
