The Documentary Channel® to Showcase Exclusive 21-Film IMAX® Collection on Sundays in August During Expanded IMAX® Originals™ Primetime Schedule

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 20, 2009) — The Documentary Channel® (DOC) will expand its exclusive schedule of IMAX® Originals programming on Sunday nights during August to showcase its entire 21-film IMAX package that features a family-friendly array of topics ranging from science, outer space and the deep sea, to wildlife, nature, history and subjects for the socially conscious.  DOC is available on DISH Network (Channel 197), and several broadcast stations in major markets including NYC TV (Channel 25) throughout the greater New York metropolitan area.

The 21 films in the collection represent some of the most successful films in IMAX history that have a combined estimated total of more than $600 million in gross box office receipts, including three of the top 10 largest grossing films in IMAX history.  DOC’s Sunday primetime lineup in August includes such IMAX box office hits as the “T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous” (Aug. 2, 8 p.m. ET), “China: The Panda Adventure” (Aug. 2, 9 p.m. ET), “The Nutcracker” (Aug. 23, 8 p.m. ET), Tom Hanks narrated “Magnificent Desolation” (Aug. 30, 8 p.m.), Tom Cruise narrated “Space Station” (Aug. 30, 8:45 p.m. ET) and “Galapagos” (Aug. 30, 9:45 p.m. ET).
