Documentary Channel Promotes Jay Kelly to Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Overseeing New York Office

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 17, 2008) – Documentary Channel (DOC) announced today the promotion of Jay Kelley to senior vice president of sales and marketing where he will be responsible for all sponsorships, advertising sales and marketing for the network. Additionally, the network announced the hiring of Jeremy Cecil and Donald Flanders, who have joined the DOC team as account executives in the New York office, dedicated to national sponsorship sales.

Kelley, headquartered in the network’s corporate office in Nashville, Tenn., will continue to manage the company’s Nashville-based Sales, Marketing and Commercial Operations teams, in addition to his new charge of overseeing and growing DOC’s New York office. “Jay has played an instrumental role over the past four years in the launch and growth of our network,” says Tom Neff, founder and CEO of Documentary Channel. “Our New York team will be in good hands with Jay and I look forward to maximizing our presence in the nation’s No. 1 media market under his leadership.”

Since joining DOC in 2004, Kelley served as the SVP of marketing and SVP of creative services. Under these roles, he successfully launched the company’s traditional, guerilla and viral marketing efforts to reach consumers and distributors, and spearheaded the network’s brand development. Prior to DOC, Kelley spent several years at the Johnson Group, one of Southeast’s premiere advertising agencies, where he was involved with developing and maintaining the Cricket Wireless brand. His work has received many national and regional awards for his achievements including Addys, an Icon Award for Technology Advertising and an award from Wireless Week. Kelley holds a master’s degree from John Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree from Sewanee (The University of the South).

Jeremy Cecil

Previously to his new role at Documentary Channel, Cecil served as an executive sales planner at Discovery Communications where he was responsible for the generating the network’s media sales. From 2001 to 2005, Cecil was an account executive for Fuse, where he was responsible for generated online and on-air campaigns for clients including MediaCom, MindShare, GM, Mediaworks, RJ Palmer, Summit Media and Active Media. He also has held positions at The Uproar Network, WHFS-FM, National Media and McCann-Erickson. Cecil holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Wheeling Jesuit University.

Donald Flanders

Flanders comes to DOC after serving as an account executive at Rainbow Media from 2004 to 2007, where he managed and developed a multi-million dollar list for AMC and WE TV in the New York/Tri-State Area. In 2001, he served as sales coordinator at ABC Family. Flanders earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Georgia, and later collected his M.B.A. from American College of London.
