This week provided me with another opportunity to spill some ink about one of my favorite docs Chris Smith’s absolutely genius film “American Movie.” It was a genuine pleasure to rescreen the film before I put the piece together. I find myself wanting more and more after each subsequent screening to gather my friends, loved ones and those naive enough to help me to finally lens a back yard blood and guts opus of my very own. Don’t try to talk me out of it. It’s gonna be amazing.

So in case you are wondering the title of this blog refers not to one of Val Kilmer’s many fine contributions to the world of cinema but to something very cool that myself and an elite team of hand selected others have begun. I can’t say much, as we’re trying to keep it under wraps a bit until the first installment is completed but I will say that you’ll be able to check it out in our screening room and that you may find yourself the proud owner of a severely blown mind. Does that sound fun? Does it peak your curiosity? Well I can proudly say that as Bachman Turner Overdrive once eloquently put it you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Ok so i’m a bit of a comic book nerd. I love films and music and literature but also I have always had a place in my heart for heroes and villains (not the Beach Boys tune, though it is a good one) well today I read an interesting article on the Bryan Singer produced Superman Doc “Look Up in the Sky,” and as excited as I am to see the man of steel return to do battle with the meglomaniacal Lex Luthor I’m just as excited to the Doc which follows the story of Superman from funny books to the silver screen. The doc is released on dvd on June 20th and Singer’s Superman Returns hits theatres just ten days later. June is gonna be a good month I reckon. Hope you all are well.

Just finished checking out the trailer for Sydney Pollack’s new doc “The Sketches of Frank Gehry.” The film which is about the eponymous architect looks downright awesome. That coupled with “I’m Your Man,” the upcoming Doc about the life and times of Leonard Cohen means good times for doc lovers in the coming months.
